At Glosso, we take the protection of your privacy very seriously. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are.
Glosso is designed to respect your privacy. We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) and we do not display any advertising.
Data Collected
Anonymous Identifier
When you first open the app, a unique identifier (UUID) is randomly generated. This identifier is not linked to any personal information and cannot be used to identify you.
Learning Data
- Session time and daily progress
- Scores and performance statistics
- Selected target language
- Defined learning goals
Screen Time Configuration
The list of apps you choose to block is stored locally on your device via Apple's Screen Time API. This data never leaves your device.
Discovery Source
During onboarding, you can optionally tell us how you discovered Glosso. This information helps us improve our communication.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Name, first name, or username
- Email address or phone number
- Geographic location
- Contacts or address book
- Photos or personal files
- Browsing history
Third-Party Services
Glosso uses Google's Firebase services for app functionality:
- Firebase Firestore: Synchronization of your learning progress (optional)
- Firebase Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics to improve the app
- Firebase App Check: Protection against abuse and bots

Data Storage
Local Storage
Most of your data (progress, learned vocabulary, statistics) is stored locally on your device in an Isar database. This data belongs to you and stays on your device.
Cloud Storage
A copy of your progress can be synced to Firebase Firestore to allow restoration when changing devices. This feature is optional.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: You can request a copy of your data
- Right to deletion: You can request deletion of all your data
- Right to portability: You can export your data in a standard format

Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, modification, disclosure, or destruction. Communications with our servers are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes via a notification in the app. The last update date is shown at the top of this page.
